Check filament diameter before loading a spool

A material label such as PLA or PETG does not establish the filament diameter. Confirm the printed spool label against the printer and feeder path.

Before you rely on a result

A documented product or fit statement is only as specific as its source. Match the exact model, installed hotend, revision, and required adapter before acting.

Read the label

Look for 1.75 mm, 2.85 mm, or a manufacturer-stated 3.00 mm value on the exact product. The catalog keeps these values distinct and does not silently reinterpret a 3.00 mm listing as 2.85 mm.

Check the full path

The drive gears, hotend bore, PTFE path, and automatic feeder must all support the same diameter. A documented printer relation does not automatically establish feeder compatibility.

When a value is absent

An unknown diameter is not an invitation to assume the common size. Open the manufacturer product specification or contact the maker before loading.

Find the exact record

Browse printer models, filament products, and nozzle products, then check the scoped relation and linked manufacturer source.
